Beets

We grow several varieties of beets including Detroit Red Ace, Ruby Queen, King Red and Burpee’s Golden. Look for medium sized beets that are well shaped and clean, with their tops off (beets are topped to prevent dehydration). The outer skin should be smooth with a suede-like nap. Beets obviously make a great soup; Borsch is one of the world's most popular soups. They also go great in stews and make a flavourful side dish for sausages, roasts and meatloaf. And pickled or fresh they make a great addition to a salad.
