Rutabagas

The “Laurentian” variety we grow here in the Fraser Valley are easily identified by their bright purple tops, yellow bottoms and creamy white dense flesh. When shopping look for firm, smooth, globular rutabagas that are heavy for their size. Rutabagas are sweeter than turnips, with a lower water content and a more pronounced flavour. They can be served raw with dip as an appetizer. They combine especially well with potatoes, carrots and apples. Rutabagas are good in soups, stews, salads and baked goods.

BCfresh Rutabagas are very high in Vitamin C, Potassium and are a good source of Folacin.
